Left unchecked, aquatic invasive plants can displace native plants and wildlife, degrade water quality, and entangle boats, fishing lines, and swimmers. Large infestations can also be expensive — and sometimes impossible — to eradicate. Early detection is key! Join Georgia Bunnell of the NH DES Weed Watchers program to learn which invasive plants to look out for (and how to tell them apart from their native lookalikes), which local lakes and ponds already have established invasive plant populations, and how to conduct a simple aquatic plant survey. You’ll leave with a Weed Watchers kit and the knowledge you need to catch aquatic invasives before they take root.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Harris Center. Space is limited, and registration is required. For more information, including questions about accessibility, contact Brett Amy Thelen.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Norway Pond Commission.
